our mission

While our hopes and dreams as a family are diverse and multifaceted, our basic mission is to live our lives FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE, so that others might find space to be met by the love of Christ and see how that love might change them. This has implications for us both as a family, and as church members and leaders… Ultimately, we want to help develop a culture in the Church that keeps the LOVE OF CHRIST central to all she does, both in the particular church we are called to serve, and the Universal Church. the LOVE OF CHRIST should be our central value.

For us this is played out in three specific manifestations of the love of Christ

LOVING within Eccentricity: We don’t pretend to be “normal". Maybe that has something to do with being “Oregon grown.” Our friends call us “quirky.” Whatever we are, we know that Jesus has loved us in the midst of our uniqueness. Growing up in the Church, we know that even in the best church environments, many people find it hard to feel seen and cared for as they are. Our eccentricities can become things that make us feel like the “other,” and that struggle to fit in can become a barrier to authentic participation in the Church. We want to live lives and cultivate a Church where anyone can come, be seen, and come in contact with Jesus and his unique love.

Expressions of LOVE: We believe that in the Scriptures, God communicates his LOVE through the story of his son Jesus. While completely true, the narrative structure says something profound about how God speaks to people. So, we want people to hear that story. To this end, we seek to nurture a culture that embraces the traditional storytelling of the church, liturgy and preaching of the word. We also desire to seek ways to help the Church find and utilize creative expressions of love, that draw others into its story. Our own story is an adventure of love, played out wherever God sends us. And we hope to include others in that adventure in whatever ways they can participate.

Enthusiastic LOVE: We are passionate. We love who and what we love with a fierce enthusiasm. And we want to cultivated passionate churches, where Christ’s is lived out enthusiastically in our every experience. As church planters, this means falling in love with new places, communities, and people, and praying that Christ’s love overflows from us in our jobs, our relationships, our families, our recreation… everywhere. From our biggest endeavors to our most mundane tasks, we want to be people, and grow a church who does everything for the sake of love.
